Summer 2011
It was a great summer for Bluegrass Fever in 2011. We started the year with a wonderful gig at the Cowichan Bay Prawn Festival on May 15th, where we played on the main stage along with a full bill of other great bands.

Next, we played at the Cedar Farmers Market on May 29th, where we enjoyed the wonderful surroundings, and where we met our new bass player, Guy Langlois.

On June 3rd we were back at Cowichan Bay (with Guy) to entertain for the festivities celebrating the completion of the timber framing of the new maritime centre building.

On July 16th we enjoyed a wonderful day at the the Chemainus Bluegrass Festival, where our first set was recorded. Tunes from this recording have now been issued as our "Live" CD.

July 24th saw us back at the Cedar Farmers Market for another day in the sunshine at that very attractive venue.

On the weekend of July 29th to the 31st we were at the 33rd annual Coombs Bluegrass Festival, where we played a couple of really enjoyable sets, and joined lots of top bands for the festival. It was a great weekend.

We were at a truly great gig on August 6th, where we played at a private function on Protection Island, near Nanaimo. This was a wonderful outdoor setting on a beautiful summer evening, with a really great crowd.

September 9th was another memorable evening. We were hired to play for the official opening of the great "events barn" at Birds Eye Cove Farm, near Maple Bay. This is a traditional timber structure built without nails, using all the old-time joinery techniques. The barn will be home to all types of events (such as weddings) in the future -- but we were the first band to play there. The building enjoys one of the most beautiful settings imaginable.

On September 25th we were back at Cowichan Bay again, to play for the official opening celebrations of the completed Maritime Centre there. It was a lovely afternoon of bluegrass in a very beautiful building.

The Cedar Farmers Market on October 9th (thanksgiving weekend) provided some amazing weather to wrap up our outdoor season.  We spent four warm and sunny hours playing for good crowds in that delightful setting.

We had one final outdoor gig on October 23, 2011 at the Cedar Farmers Market.  We played at this great venue from 10 am until 2 pm, with a selection of bluegrass tunes.  The weather held for the day, with plenty of sunshine, so it was a great way to end the 2011 outdoor season.
